Meet the Moutere Hills Walkers

in News, Way2Go by newsgirl on February 17th, 2010No Comments

Join the Moutere Hills walking group to meet like-minded people and discover the local area. The group is organised by our Way2Go Coordinator, Vanessa, and now has 14 committed walkers each week and Mojo, the dog. Each week we walk a different route for just over an hour and the group naturally divides into various pace speeds.

The participants fully enjoy the benefits from regular walking and meet every Tuesday morning at 9.00am in the Moutere Hills car park. One of the ladies from the walking group enthusiastically told us, “This group is great, I have met new people and really enjoyed getting out of the house.”

If you crave solitude, walking on your own might be the perfect workout. If you’d rather look to others for inspiration, don’t go it alone. The camaraderie you experience in a walking group and the shared fitness success can help you walk your way to better health. New members are always welcome.

Zumba Storms in Upper Moutere

in News, Way2Go by newsgirl on February 3rd, 2010No Comments

zumbaWay2Go Moutere! No less than fifty-five ladies came to Zumba on down in the Moutere Hills gym tonight. Never before have so many turned up on the first night of any activity! The Zumba workout was an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning and body-energizing fun.

Definitely a fun and funky way to get fit and shed some pounds if you need to. The program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. You’ll move those hips to salsa, hip-hop, samba, belly dancing, African beats and more. Brilliant fitness for men & women (but only the girls turned out tonight) and perhaps one of our most popular Way2Go activities yet!

Get into the Zumba craze this term: every Wednesday night 6 – 7pm, $5 on the door.

Wear trainers, light clothing, bring a big bottle of water and come join the party.

Nelson International Aromatics Symposium 2010

in News by newsgirl on February 2nd, 2010No Comments

This weekend Moutere Hills Community Centre is once again proud to host the Nelson Aromatics Symposium. The profile of New Zealand’s aromatic wines, and Nelson as a wine region, were greatly enhanced by the inaugural Nelson Aromatics Symposium, held at Moutere Hills in 2007. Many international wine writers, wine buyers and sellers, winemakers and wine enthusiasts took the chance to travel to Nelson to attend this one day symposium.

The Nelson International Aromatics Symposium 2010 promises to be a memorable occasion. And again follows on from Pinot Noir 2010 held in Wellington. 160 delegates, largely international and NZ wine press and trade, plus a number of winemakers, will join the renowned Ernst Loosen (Dr Loosen Estate) and other international commentators in an exploration of the Riesling and Gewürztraminer wines from around the world.

Here’s to another successful symposium for all concerned.
Cheers!

p1070101 Another sensational festival showcasing what the Moutere Community can do! There were over one hundred stalls of delicious food, drinks and so much creativity. A huge thank-you on behalf of the organisers for coming and helping to raise money for a defibrilator for Upper Moutere village. The Rai Jin Taiko drummers opened the festival and Hi Strung followed them in the line-up. Gecko were the feature band of the evening and got the crowd dancing until dusk. Our Way2Go trailer was there , keeping the children entertained for hours. There were competitions galore and everyone had a fantastic day!
