New Entranceway for Moutere Hills

This is a huge public thank-you to all the volunteers, young, old and everything in between that spent their Saturdays or Sundays helping us remove, garden, plant and prepare our frontage for the new entranceway project. Your hours of hard work and use of tools is so much appreciated and we hope to complete the project by the end of October 2010.

Our new wall is near completion just waiting for the finishing touches and we would like to express a huge thank-you to Tim Edwards, Brickfield for his mastery in the art of brick-laying. Everyone agrees the wall looks fantastic and will change the face of our Centre!

A huge thank-you on behalf of the organisers for coming and helping to raise money for a defibrilator for Upper Moutere village. The Rai Jin Taiko drummers opened the festival and Hi Strung followed them in the line-up. Gecko were the feature band of the evening and got the crowd dancing until dusk. Our Way2Go trailer was there , keeping the children entertained for hours. There were competitions galore and everyone had a fantastic day!

Athletics Day 2008

An historic event on the Moutere Hills calendar that was started to celebrate the end of World War 1 once again attracted a big crowd. The Moutere Hills Athletics Day was established in 1919 by a group of teachers and has been held every year since. Event coordinator and local resident Craig Goodman did an amazing job of bringing it all together as he does tirelessly year after year. Craig first competed in the event in 1967 and has been organising it for the past 15 years.

More than 700 students from six schools throughout the Moutere Hills district competed at the event which took place on Saturday 8th November. While there is no overall winning school on the day, students compete to win trophies in individual events.

Moutere Hills Community Centre was delighted to see a great attendance from parents and supporters who took part in races, tug of war and generally made the day a memorable one for all who took part. Everyone also enjoyed a presentation of speeches and wreaths in conjunction with the Returned and Services Association.

A big thank-you  to Upper Moutere and Dovedale School parent volunteers who worked hard to supply food and beverages throughout the day to raise funds which will be put back into the event next year.
